- Asking for consent before acting, providing people with relevant information and enabling them to be actively involved in all decisions and choices on what they want to do, eat or how they present themselves, addresses their essential need for autonomy, as well as addressing their essential need for status
- Providing people with a small consistent staff team with whom they can form a relationship and who get to know their likes and dislikes addresses their essential need for attention
